Professor Grace McCarthy, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the UOW Sydney Business School (who, to recap, along with RDA Illawarra and TIC form the 3 partnerships that support the LIP), has forwarded this article from theconversation.com on her research team's work on the effectiveness of cutting penalty rates. Martin O’Brien’s short piece on why cutting penalty rates has not created more jobs, based on his recently published research is a very readable piece for a general audience.
Professor McCarthy will be delivering a 'Coaching for Managers' workshop to LIP on Thursday 20 June.

It was wonderful to have a full compliment of LIP in attendance for this event! Thank you all for showing up - it made the job of matching pairs so much easier having everybody's preferences to refer to. Of course, as you might expect with an event this size and 22 combinations of Mentor and Mentee to connect, there were... let's call them 'logistical challenges'. There were also a few 'rogue elements' determined to do things their own way, but we got there in the end! Sanity intact.
Big thanks to all from JCI who came along to help things run smoothly, to Deb and Sarah for their presentations and, of course, to our volunteer Mentors for their time and patience. Looking forward to hearing about your new mentoring partnerships with interest. Good luck! |
