2016-2018 LIP CoHORT Visit to EDMEN GROUP

Our visit to the Edmen Group head office to listen to Managing Director Eddy De Gabriele proved both thought provoking and inspiring.
 
Eddy continually emphasised that the main ingredient for successful leadership was ourselves and that to be a great leader required us to inspire others to raise their own bar and to strive to do better for themselves. He spoke on the need to bring everyone together and work together for a common outcome.
 
Eddy highlighted that our community leaders needed to be open minded, dynamic, flexible and tolerant. He believed that the future leaders were the infrastructure our community needed to continue to move forward.
 
He finished with a poignant quote from Rosalyn Carter that summed up the discussion - "A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't want to go, but ought to be". 
 
The Leadership Illawarra program has brought together a group of people from all walks of life. If we are able to implement even some of the principles discussed by Eddy today, then the future of our community does look bright.
