Associate Professor Charles Harvie of the UOW Faculty of Business, School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, presented a fact packed workshop to the LIP, thanks to our partnership and close ties to The Sydney Business School. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Strategy) Alex Frino was overseas and unavailable to present and Faculty Executive Manager Sue Mathews arranged for Charles to step in.
Charles shared a plethora of statistics on sectors of the economy and the areas of growth and decline in the region and how we compare to other regions of similar size in regional Australia. The health and care sector has experienced a massive increase and traditional sectors such as manufacturing and mining are on the decline. The areas for growth and development and our opportunities due to the proximity to Sydney and fast connectivity were also discussed at length. Rebecca confidently represented the LIP by giving her first vote and thanks and it was a pleasure to see Rebecca tackle this new challenge with enthusiasm. Thank you to Assoc Professor Harvie and The Sydney Business School, UOW for this valuable content.
